So as I celebrate year 2 of fully transitioning into a different career field that truly ignites my soul, I encourage you to go after what your heart desires. No, it wonā€™t be easy but itā€™ll be worth it!

My book, Soul Ignition, was birth from my career transition period so hereā€™s a few words of encouragement to ignite your soul to move to your next level in life:

āœ… ā€œGIVE NOTICEā€ to yourself that you deserve the best and nothing less

āœ…ā€TRUST THE PROCESSā€ God is taking you through that will mold you into who He has called you to be.

Don’t Disqualify Yourself!

Have YOU ever told yourself this before???

A little over a decade ago I graduated from college with my bachelors and what I thought would be the start of a great career ended up being horrible or what I like to call a career tragedy!!! After completing my third consecutive summer internship with a top accounting firm, I ended up not getting the job offer with the company I always dreamed of working for and on top of that I couldnā€™t get accepted in to any of the graduate schools I applied for without an acceptable test score. .My career plans were shattered and I felt unqualified for everything! I had experienced so much rejection that summer! A no here, a no there, a no everywhere! I told myself that I was not qualified because I faced rejection in my career AND I told myself that I was not qualified when things in my career journey got hardā€¦my heart was completely brokenā€¦I kind of spiraled out of control and went into a mini depression state. .

You see I was dwelling on what I thought were failures at the time but it was really God redirecting me to where He wanted me to be in my career journey. After all, I had surrendered my career! As I think back now on what happened I thank God because I can truly say that my career tragedy is my value!!!! I am the solution to individuals that do not feel qualified and empowered to thrive in their career journey! .My clients are attracted to me because I know what its like to hit rock bottom in your career and I can truly empower them to press forward and show them how to clearly execute to get from Point A to Point B throughout their career journey!!!šŸ™ŒšŸ½.

Iā€™m currently creating a COURSE that provides individuals the blueprint to authentically excel within their career journey and take full ownership of their career!!!!

Lessons Learned From Chadwick…

If PERSEVERANCE was a person it would be the late great Chadwick Boseman. He was the exact definition of  perseverance which is the ability to keep doing something in spite of obstacles. Therefore, people who persevere show steadfastness in doing something despite how hard it may be. 

Although I did not personally know Chadwick, I knew that he was an outstanding actor who loved his career. He persevered through his health challenges and produced great movies that all of us have the pleasure to see.  I’m sure being in the public eye, playing iconic characters on screen, and having health challenges could not have been easy but since he loved his career I’m sure he would say it was worth it!

His legacy will live on forever because he has made such an impact in our world. The top 3 essential career related things I learned from him are as follows:

1. LOVE what you do in your profession so you can be happy on a regular basis.

2. Whatever you do in your profession, do it with grace and excellence

3.  Despite what obstacles you may face in your profession, persevere through them because you are  VICTORIOUS and were made to WIN!!!

I want to encourage you to apply what I learned from him in your profession! Additionally, stay focus on the good and the positive things as you journey through your career.  Focusing on the negative just causes stress and brings your happiness levels all the way down. I say this time and time again so I’ll say it again, life is too short to be unhappy within your career and do nothing about it. So will YOU do something about it???

Did YOU know you were created for greatness??? I just wanted to stop by to remind you of this very fact because it’s so easy to dwell on the negative facts but not the positive facts of life.

Also, did you know that YOU are the answer to someoneā€™s prayers!!! The gift God has given you is meant to be a resource to help someone in need…to help the corporations/organization seeking your skillset, your work ethic, and your unique personality!

-Display your greatness in your work environment regardless if you’re working from home due to COVID or going in to work on a daily basis! Whether you believe it or not someone prayed for the skillsets and greatness YOU bring to the table! So go do YOU unapologetically in the workplace and let your light shine so bright that others will see it (Matthew 5:16)

A ‘NO’ Does Not Stop The Show!

Have you ever received a NO throughout your career journey????? I certainly have but trust me it is not the end of the world!
.
No doesnā€™t mean never it simply means NEXT OPPORTUNITY…closed doors in your career means God blocked it because He has something better for you elsewhere…something God sized…something much greater than you could even think, dream or imagine. Ephesian 3:20 says it best, ‘Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.’

Trust me I know all too well what a NO sounds like and feels like!!! BUT it was in that season of my life (the career waiting season) I surrendered my career path to God, developed strategies to create a rĆ©sumĆ© that spoke to my brand, developed strategies to ACE interviews and build an irresistible YOU Brand. I eventually reached my version of career prosperity but I didn’t do it on my own strength, instead I allowed God to direct my path and I asked God to allow me to encounter whoever I needed to in order for me to truly excel to the next level within my career journey. I encourage you to do the same by asking God to direct your path on your career journey.Ā  Remember the facts of your career circumstances are never to hard for God to solve so remove the anxious feeling you may have in this season and activate your faith and press on!!!

2. I discovered my passion and purpose through my pain experienced at the beginning of my career. 3. I had a very lucrative career in Corporate America and I loved it! I can truly say I experienced my version of career prosperity and I’m so ready to show you how! 4. Iā€™m a wife to a very loving and supportive husband!! Heā€™s my best friend and boo thang for lifeĀ šŸ„°Ā So honored to be his wife and to do life with him!

5. Iā€™m a mother to a very beautiful and intelligent 2 year old daughter who brings me pure joy everyday! So honored to have the privilege to raise heršŸ„°

6. I write poetry that will ignite your soul! Maybe Iā€™ll perform for you one day. Currently working on a special poetry project so stay tuned! (P.S. Just know that it will inspire and empower you to be all that God has called you to be!)

7. I graduated from 2 illustrious HBCUs (shout out to North Carolina A&T: Accounting Major and Morgan State University: MBA). Additionally, Iā€™m a life long learner because I simply believe education is a key to thriving in all areas of life.

8. I LOVE Jesus!!! I am led by God in ALL I do and wouldnā€™t be where Iā€™m at in life if it was not for my faith! By no means am I perfect BUT who isšŸ¤·šŸ½ā€ā™€ļø I simply operate in faith not facts!!!

9. Iā€™m originally from Chesapeake, VA (#757) but now I reside in Upper Marlboro, Maryland!!! If youā€™re in the DMV area and want to talk business Iā€™m all ears. There is power in collaboration especially if itā€™s a divine connection! (which is the only connection Iā€™m interested in making!) P.S. if you are not in the DMV area we can still connect because technology is a beautiful thing! #DMV #entrepreneur

10. I absolutely love TV!!! I gave it up for lent one year because my TV addiction was horrible it became distracting and I could get nothing done! So I prayed about it and NOW I have the ability to watch TV or a movie with a purpose! Every time I watch TV now I pretty much have a revelation afterwards…I like to think of it as a little gift from God since I love TV and certain movies so muchĀ šŸ˜
