Reflect On Your Core Values This Holiday Season…

Happy Holidays!!

I hope you are enjoying this Christmas Season 🙂 Make sure you do something or a few things that make you happy/put a gigantic smile on your face/heart!

As a movie lover, I love cuddling up on the couch with a nice Christmas blanket and watch a feel good Christmas movie! Each movie I have seen thus far amplifies the need to reflect on your core values or your personal priority list. During this time of the season your core value can definitely be challenged or put to the test. Why? because you may have a demanding job, boss/manager, etc. However, I encourage you to take time and reflect on what’s important to you in this season of your career, business, or life in general. Additionally, I love to take the time to reflect on how God has been to me, my family, my friends, and those attached to me. God has definitely been showing out by being the ultimate provider, healer, friend I need in this season of my life. I encourage you to take a few minute, hours, or even days to reflect on how you have encountered God’s greatness throughout this year.

Career Empowerment Anyone??

Hello to all my Professionals, Career Seekers, and Career Changers!

I hope you are doing well 🙂 Bottom line upfront I have GOOD NEWS for you!!! The good news is (drum roll please…):

…the abundance is in your start! In all seriousness the road to the abundant lifestyle you seek is all in your START! Therefore, it’s times up for not starting or working towards your idea or career goal that God has placed in you. Simply put one foot forward and focus on the applause of God instead of the applause from man when progressing towards your career goals or that business idea.

Trust me I know how it is to be stifled by fear specifically the fear of the unknown. But guess what God (aka your heavenly father) shows up and shows out in the unknown!!! Good news right? So just move and be focused on the do not the how…you got it!

Have you said these phrases recently when it come’s to your career journey?

Be honest…I have said this once before in my career journey too; however, when I began to change my perspective and rewire my mind on how I view my career (especially when I was in my 9 to 5 career journey) my days were so much better. Most of all what helped me rewire my mind was:

 -I changed how I spoke about the career circumstances I faced,
-Took steps towards my career goal and moved past the doubts/fears of failure, 
-Leaned on the true source, who is God, to fix my career circumstances

Bottom line YOU have to make the choice to be the change YOU want to see in your career journey. Why? Well it’s simple because change in your career starts with YOU!

You Can Make A Career Transition Too!

This week I celebrated my 1st full year of operating as a full-time entrepreneur in an industry that aligns with my divine purpose!

[Backstory] Approximately, 1 year ago I voluntarily left my 6-figure career as an IT Auditor/Consultant at a major organization! I’m still shocked that I did that.

Never in a million years did
I think could do it!

But the fact of the matter is that I did do it! I didn’t voluntarily leave because I was miserable at my 9 to 5 or didn’t like what I was doing. I left because I knew I was being called to work full-time in another industry which is the Career/Professional Development industry.

I thank God for giving me the courage and strength to transition into another industry within my career. Owning my own business and working in this industry literally ignites my soul because I love to serve people by helping them meet their career goals and see people happy with what they do within their careers. It’s a very rewarding experience.

If I can do it you can certainly do it too! Especially, if you know you’re being called to do it. I always say if you’re called to it you have no choice but to do it, it’s your responsibility (John 15:16).

Don’t Disqualify Yourself!

Have YOU ever told yourself this before???

A little over a decade ago I graduated from college with my bachelors and what I thought would be the start of a great career ended up being horrible or what I like to call a career tragedy!!! After completing my third consecutive summer internship with a top accounting firm, I ended up not getting the job offer with the company I always dreamed of working for and on top of that I couldn’t get accepted in to any of the graduate schools I applied for without an acceptable test score. .My career plans were shattered and I felt unqualified for everything! I had experienced so much rejection that summer! A no here, a no there, a no everywhere! I told myself that I was not qualified because I faced rejection in my career AND I told myself that I was not qualified when things in my career journey got hard…my heart was completely broken…I kind of spiraled out of control and went into a mini depression state. .

You see I was dwelling on what I thought were failures at the time but it was really God redirecting me to where He wanted me to be in my career journey. After all, I had surrendered my career! As I think back now on what happened I thank God because I can truly say that my career tragedy is my value!!!! I am the solution to individuals that do not feel qualified and empowered to thrive in their career journey! .My clients are attracted to me because I know what its like to hit rock bottom in your career and I can truly empower them to press forward and show them how to clearly execute to get from Point A to Point B throughout their career journey!!!🙌🏽.

I’m currently creating a COURSE that provides individuals the blueprint to authentically excel within their career journey and take full ownership of their career!!!!

Lessons Learned From Chadwick…

If PERSEVERANCE was a person it would be the late great Chadwick Boseman. He was the exact definition of  perseverance which is the ability to keep doing something in spite of obstacles. Therefore, people who persevere show steadfastness in doing something despite how hard it may be. 

Although I did not personally know Chadwick, I knew that he was an outstanding actor who loved his career. He persevered through his health challenges and produced great movies that all of us have the pleasure to see.  I’m sure being in the public eye, playing iconic characters on screen, and having health challenges could not have been easy but since he loved his career I’m sure he would say it was worth it!

His legacy will live on forever because he has made such an impact in our world. The top 3 essential career related things I learned from him are as follows:

1. LOVE what you do in your profession so you can be happy on a regular basis.

2. Whatever you do in your profession, do it with grace and excellence

3.  Despite what obstacles you may face in your profession, persevere through them because you are  VICTORIOUS and were made to WIN!!!

I want to encourage you to apply what I learned from him in your profession! Additionally, stay focus on the good and the positive things as you journey through your career.  Focusing on the negative just causes stress and brings your happiness levels all the way down. I say this time and time again so I’ll say it again, life is too short to be unhappy within your career and do nothing about it. So will YOU do something about it???

YOU Were Created for Greatness!!!

Did YOU know you were created for greatness??? I just wanted to stop by to remind you of this very fact because it’s so easy to dwell on the negative facts but not the positive facts of life.

Also, did you know that YOU are the answer to someone’s prayers!!! The gift God has given you is meant to be a resource to help someone in need…to help the corporations/organization seeking your skillset, your work ethic, and your unique personality!

-Display your greatness in your work environment regardless if you’re working from home due to COVID or going in to work on a daily basis! Whether you believe it or not someone prayed for the skillsets and greatness YOU bring to the table! So go do YOU unapologetically in the workplace and let your light shine so bright that others will see it (Matthew 5:16)

A ‘NO’ Does Not Stop The Show!

Have you ever received a NO throughout your career journey????? I certainly have but trust me it is not the end of the world!
.
No doesn’t mean never it simply means NEXT OPPORTUNITY…closed doors in your career means God blocked it because He has something better for you elsewhere…something God sized…something much greater than you could even think, dream or imagine. Ephesian 3:20 says it best, ‘Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.’

Trust me I know all too well what a NO sounds like and feels like!!! BUT it was in that season of my life (the career waiting season) I surrendered my career path to God, developed strategies to create a résumé that spoke to my brand, developed strategies to ACE interviews and build an irresistible YOU Brand. I eventually reached my version of career prosperity but I didn’t do it on my own strength, instead I allowed God to direct my path and I asked God to allow me to encounter whoever I needed to in order for me to truly excel to the next level within my career journey. I encourage you to do the same by asking God to direct your path on your career journey.  Remember the facts of your career circumstances are never to hard for God to solve so remove the anxious feeling you may have in this season and activate your faith and press on!!!
